Pukeohe New Zealand 2015 Post Race Report

Hi to all you V8 Supercars fans around the world.
On the weekend of the 6th – 8th of November 2015 was the ITM 500 Auckland Race

In race 28 Jamie Whincup started on pole position next to him was David Reynolds. On lap 1 of 21 Jamie Whincup got the jump on the field through turns 1, 2 and 3. During the opening lap Tim Slade, Will Davison, Fabain Coulthard and James Moffat all came together on the exit of turn 6.

Also On lap 2 Will Davison had to park car 9 in the garage as a result of the damage that it suffered. Scott Pye was in front of Craig Lowndes, he was complaining that he was getting held up by Scott Pye.

On lap 3 Fox sports showed a replay of start.

On lap 4 the field was settleing down into their own pace.

On lap 5 there was a safety car for debris on the race track. The restart was on lap 8.

In the middle of the race Jamie Whincup was still in control of the race.

Towards the end of the race no one could catch Jamie Whincup. Team BOC’S Jason Bright had a DNF.

Results for race 28
1st – Jamie Whincup – Red Bull Racing Australia.
2nd – Shane Van Gisbergen – Tekno Autosports
3rd – David Reynolds – Rod Nash Racing.

In race 29 David Reynolds started on pole position alongside him was Craig Lowndes. On lap 1 of 21 Craig managed to stay in front of David Reynolds. During the opening laps Craig Lowndes was dominating the start.

On lap 2 David Reynolds was trying to pass but, Craig Lowndes would not let him.

On lap 3 the order was still the same for the front runners.
In middle of the race Craig Lowndes left rear tyre just completely exploded which caused a safety car the restart was on lap 16.

Towards the end of the race Jamie Whincup was putting the pressure on David Reynolds for the race lead.

Results for race 29.
1st – David Reynolds – Rod Nash Racing.
2nd – Jamie Whincup – Red Bull Racing Australia.
3rd – Scott McLaughlin – Volvo Polstar Racing.

In race 30 Scott McLaughlin started on pole position alongside him was Jamie Whincup.

On lap 1 of 69 Jamie Whincup got the jump into turns 1, 2 and 3. Then the pack started to settle down to a race pace.

On lap 2 Mark Winterbottom got turned around down at the hairpin turn by Jason Bright as a result there was a concertina effect.

On lap 3 Jamie Whincup was out in front leading the race the only times the lead changed was when the pit stops started, Craig Lowndes had to double stack behind Jamie Whincup but not for too long. The pit was congested big time due to the safety car being deployed the restart was on lap 5.

When the safety car peeled off into the pit lane Jamie Whincup got on the loud pedal straight away and pulled away immediately.

On lap 6 Craig Lowndes was in front of James Moffat there was a regulation change due to Craig Lowndes tyre exploding on Saturday in the 2nd race. Everyone had to start on soft tyres.

On lap 7 everyone had change from the soft tyre back to the regular Dunlop hard tyre at the first pit stop.

On lap 8 Scott Pye was moving up through the pack after having to double stack with Shane Van Gisbergen and then when it came time to exit their respective pit garages, the fast lane very busy.

On lap 9 everyone was trying to get there new tyres up to temperature and pressure because in V8 Supercars these days, the teams are not allowed to have tyre warmers to keep the temperature into the tyres.

On lap 10 the leader was back to being Jamie Whincup driving.
In the middle of the race everybody came in for there 2nd and final pit stop but in the process the cars were locking up due to the oil that was left on the entry to pit lane by Will Davison’s Erebus Motorsport Merades E63 AMG the previous day.

Towards the end of the race the two Red Bull cars were running 1 and 2 and that was how it finished.

Results for race 30
1st – Jamie Whincup – Red Bull Racing Australia.
2nd – Craig Lowndes – Red Bull Racing Australia.
3rd – Scott Pye – Dick Johnson Racing Team Penske.

There are now just 2 events remaining, the next event is the WD 40 Phillip Island Super sprint on the 20th – 22nd November 2015.
The Commentators were Greg Rust and Neil Crompton. The pit reporters were Greg Murphy and Riana Crehan.

Hi to all you V8 Supercars fans.

This weekend is the ITM 500 Auckland. There are now just 3 events remaining for 2015.

The V8 Supercar calendar was changed around this year as this event was run in April 2014, so let’s have a look back at April 2014…
In race 10 Jason Bright started on pole position, alongside him was Jamie Whincup. On lap 1 of 35 Jamie Whincup got a better launch off the starting grid. There was drama back in the mid pack. Scott McLaughlin ran wide on the exit of turn 6. Towards the end of the first lap he and Will Davison went side by side around the final turn.
On lap 2 Scott McLaughlin was trying to move up through the field after his previous run in with Will Davison.

On lap 3 the Pedders SRT Safety car was deployed to remove car 17 driven by David Wall after he hit the wall.

The restart was on lap 8 and Jamie Whincup was still leading the on the restart, everybody else was trying to stay in touch Jamie Whincup, but he was doing a great job in keeping the lead.

On lap 9 the pack was getting annoyed by Jamie Whincup driving and just pulling away. But before the end of the next lap, Jamie Whincup would be pulled back by an oil problem and had a DNF.

1st – Jason Bright – Team BOC.
2nd – Garth Tander – Holden Racing Team.
3rd – Craig Lowndes – Red Bull Racing Australia.

In race 11 James Courtney started on pole Position alongside him was Mark Winterbottom on lap 1 of 35 Mark Winterbottom managed to take the race lead at turn 1 by rounding up the pole sitter James Courtney. One of the Erebus cars stalled near the back of the pack and it was Will Davison. Scott Pye was trying to get passed Fabain Coulthard on the outside of the backstraight on lap 2, Craig Lowndes ran wide on to the grass approaching the main straight. After he made some positions he went as far back as 16th spot at the start of the 2nd lap.

On lap 3 Jamie Whincup ran wide coming onto the main straight which Allowed Chaz Mostert to get passed him.

On lap 4 Jason Bright held position in front of Tim Slade, Jason’s Engineer said to him just make sure you are safe, he nearly lost control of the Team BOC car.

On lap 5, Tim Slade tried to get the position back from Jason Bright, as a result he got pushed into the grass and punctured the left front tyre.

In the middle of the race Craig was trying to make some progess, because he was struggling with the setup on the car, because it wasn’t ideal.

Towards the end of the race no one could catch Mark Winterbottom.

Results for race 11
1st – Mark Winterbottom – Pepsi Max Crew.
2nd – James Courtney – Holden Racing Team.
3rd – Chaz Mostert – Pepsi Max Crew.

In race 12 Scott McLaughlin started on pole position alongside him was Jamie Whincup, on lap 1 of 35 Jamie Whincup got the jump off the front row of the grid and led the field through turns 1, 2, 3 and 4. For the first lap. Also on the Jason Bright went straight ahead into the tyres in-between turns 3 and 4. Scott McLaughlin took over the race lead from Jamie Whincup and then he dropped back 1 spot into 2nd.

There was a safety car to remove Jason Bright’s car from the tyres at turn 4. The restart was on lap 4. Shane Van Gisbergen was putting pressure on Jamie Whincup.

On lap 5 Scott McLaughlin was still in the lead.

On lap 6. Scott McLaughlin was under pressure to keep the race lead from Shane Van Gisbergen in the driver’s seat.

In the middle of the race everybody had done there pit stops and were settling into their own pace, for the run to the finish. Towards the end of the race Shane Van Gisbergen held off the cars behind him for the win.

Results for race 12
1st -Shane Van Gisbergen – Tekno Autosports.
2nd – Scott McLaughlin – Volvo Polstar Racing.
3rd – Jamie Whincup – Red Bull Racing Australia.

In race 13 Scott McLaughlin started on pole position alongside him was Tim Slade on lap 1 of 69 Shane Van Gisbergen was holding his spot after turn 1. There was congestion in the mid pack towards the end of the first lap Jamie Whincup got up the inside of Chaz Mosert.
On lap 2 Craig Lowndes was the first the pit so that the 2 Red Bull cars didn’t have to double stack. Along with Will Davison as well. Then down at the hairpin at turn 8 Jamie Whincup ran wide which allowed Chaz Mosteret to get back up the inside. Then he was under pressure, David Reynolds tried to get up the inside in-between turns 5 and 6. But wasn’t able to get the move done cleanly. James Courtney tried to get up the inside Lee Holdsworth who was on the outside at the hairpin in the middle of the race the 2nd pit stops started to happen where the field tried to avoid double stacking at all costs. In the end no one catch Mark Winterbottom. Which as a result of winning the final race Mark Winterbottom had enough points to Claim the Jason Richards Memorial trophy 12 months ago…

1st – Mark Winterbottom – Pepsi max crew.
2nd – Scott McLaughlin – Volvo Polstar racing.
3rd – Chaz Mostert – Pepsi Max Crew.

The commentators this year will be Greg Rust Neil Crompton the pit reporters this year will be Greg Murphy and Riana Crehan. David Cauchi will be Jamie’s race engineer for the remainder of 2015 while Mark Dutton will resume the team manager role. This weekend’s races will be 2 – 21 lap races and 1 – 69 lap race.
